Setting Up Calendars

Dashie pulls everyone's schedule into one shared view on your family dashboard. You can connect Google, Microsoft, and Apple calendars, assign specific calendars to specific family members, and color-code events so it's easy to see who's doing what.

Connect a calendar account

Where to add calendars: Calendar accounts are added from the Dashie console or the mobile site (not on the TV itself). Once added, they sync automatically to every Dashie device on your account.

Dashie supports three calendar providers:

Google

Gmail, Workspace, Google Calendar

Open Add a calendar account in the Dashie console, choose Google, and sign in with the Google account that has the calendar you want. Dashie pulls in your primary calendar along with any other calendars you've created or that have been shared with you.

Microsoft

Outlook, Microsoft 365, Hotmail

Open Add a calendar account in the Dashie console, choose Microsoft, and sign in with the Microsoft account that owns the calendar. Works with personal accounts (Outlook.com, Hotmail) and work / school accounts (Microsoft 365).

Apple iCloud

iCloud Calendar via CalDAV

Apple iCloud requires an app-specific password — not your regular Apple ID password. Generate one at appleid.apple.com under Sign-In and Security › App-Specific Passwords, then enter your Apple ID email and that generated password in the Dashie console.

Once connected, Dashie pulls calendars from iCloud over CalDAV and auto-activates the primary calendar.

After connecting

Once an account is connected, Dashie discovers every calendar inside that account. From there you can choose what shows up and how it looks.

Choose which calendars to display

Most accounts have more than one calendar — e.g. your personal calendar plus a "Work" calendar plus a "Holidays" calendar plus shared family calendars. In the Dashie console, you can toggle each calendar on or off so the dashboard only shows what you actually care about.

Assign calendars to family members

Tie each calendar to a specific family member (set up in the Family Management guide). Events from that calendar will appear in that family member's color and attribute to them across other widgets — chores, rewards, and upcoming-events summaries.

Color coding

Each family member has a color, and events inherit that color by default. You can also override colors per calendar if you'd rather a single calendar show in its own distinct color regardless of who owns it (good for shared "Family" calendars or work calendars you want to de-emphasize).

Hide events

Sometimes a calendar has events you don't want on the family dashboard — sensitive work meetings, all-day birthdays from a contacts calendar, etc. You can hide individual events or filter them by keyword from the Dashie console, and they'll stay invisible on every device.
